What is Volunteering for Girl Scout
Series and Events?
Volunteering for Girl Scout Series and Events is a 25 minute,
self-paced, streamlined online orientation to Girl Scouting.
Who is Volunteering for Girl Scout
Series and Events’ intended audience?
Volunteering for Girl Scout Series and Events’ intended audience
is series and event volunteers who are new to the organization.
(The events pathway is a chance for volunteers to share their time
and skills with girls in a one‐time event under a compressed time-frame, such as a day or a weekend; the series pathway allows
volunteers to meet regularly with girls but for only a few weeks
or months, not for a full year.)
Volunteers
in the Troop, camp, virtual, and travel pathways should watch Girl Scouting
101; volunteers in the series and event
Pathways
should watch Volunteering for Girl Scout Series and Events. When they
arrive at the website, there is a choice for English or Spanish videos.
Volunteering
for Girl Scout Series and Events is broken down into six parts:
- What
Girl Scouts Do (the Girl Scout
Leadership Experience, Journeys, Girl’s Guides, Bronze/Silver/Gold Awards)
- Mission,
Promise, and Law
- Girl
Scout Cookies
- Staying
Safe (Girl Scouts Safety Standards)
- Ages
and Stages: What Girl Scouts Are Like (girl
development for each grade level)
- Ready
To Work with Girls? (how to
move forward with local Councils; how they are supported)
