Volunteer Years of Service Pin (Tenure Pin)
 
Recipients: Adult members
 
Purpose: To recognize an adult member registered with GSUSA for his/her years of active service at five year intervals. (5,10,15, etc.)
Levels of Recognitions: Tenure pins for 5 to 15 years are presented at the annual service unit recognitions event

Tenure pins for 20 years or more are presented at the regional recognitions event
 
Nomination Process: For 5 to 15 years (in 5 year intervals) submit the Years of Service form to your service unit director or to your MMS no later than February 15, or the date specified by your service unit

For 20 or more year (in 5 year intervals) submit the Years of Service for to the Adult Development Director no later than February 15th.
 
Trainer's Pin (Three Levels)
 
Basic requirements: The candidate is an adult member registered with GSUSA

The candidate has completed basic leadership training and the Train-the Trainer course.

The candidate attains the higher level of recognition by meeting the criteria for those levels described below.

Apprentice Trainer-Level I (above)

After appointment as an apprentice trainer, the candidate conducts an agreed upon number of courses, at least half of which are with an experienced or master trainer.

Experienced Trainer-Level II

The candidate has served at least one year as an apprentice trainer or equivalent.

Prior to appointment as an experienced trainer, the candidate has taken additional training in one or more interest areas in which she/he would like to train

After appointment, the individual conducts an agreed upon number of training courses, alone or as part of a team. The individual may also serve on a training committee as part of this requirement.
 
Master Trainer-Level III

The candidate has met all requirements for apprentice and experienced trainer.

Prior to appointment, the candidate can have taken training for administrative or volunteer staff or advanced training in a specialized skill area.

The candidate may serve on a training committee or a task group designing training curriculum

The candidate has served at least one year as an experienced trainer

After appointment as a master trainer, the individual conducts an agreed upon number of courses, including Train-the-Trainer courses and coordinated training events with the Adult Development Director or Adult Development Manager
 
 
Leadership Development Pin
 
Recipients: Registered adult who meets the requirements
 
Purpose: To recognize volunteer participation in training sessions that increase skills in working with girls and/or other volunteers
 
Levels of Recognition: Leadership Development Pin (Owl Pin)

Be a registered Girl Scout adult

Have completed one successful year in the position of troop/group leader, assistant leader, or group coordinator

Have completed the appropriate training and have demonstrated position competence

Actively recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior
 
Green Leaf

Represents 10 hours of additional training
 
Silver Leaf

Represents 50 hours of additional training
(Replaces 5 Green Leaves)
 
Gold Leaf

Represents 250 hours of additional training
(Replaces 5 Silver Leaves)
 
Nomination Process: Complete the Leadership Development Form and submit to the council no later than February 15th.
 
 
Presidents Award
Recipients: Service Unit Teams
 
Purpose: To recognize service unit teams who are moving its assigned area toward the achievement of the councils goal for the current membership year
 
Levels of Recognition: Presidents Gold Award for teams completing 20 requirements (80%)
 

Presidents Silver Award for team completing 18 requirements (70%)
 

Presidents Bronze Award for teams completing 15 requirements (60%)
 
Nomination Process: Complete Presidents Award Nomination form and return it to the Adult Development Director no later than February 15th.
 
 
Progressive Girl Scout Volunteer Awards
 
Recipients: Registered Girl Scout adults who have met the requirements
 
Purpose: To recognize progressive volunteers
 
Levels of Recognition: Girl Scout Volunteer Achievement Award (Pin with a chain)

Be a registered Girl Scout adult

Have successfully completed their first year in one of the following positions:
o First successful year on board committee
o First successful year on a task group assignment
o First successful year of service unit management
o A successful year of service to GSUSA
 
Girl Scout Mentoring Award (White Key)

Have earned the Girl Scout Volunteer Achievement Award

Has become a coach or mentor for a new volunteer

Has provided ongoing support resulting in retention of a new volunteer
 
Girl Scout Volunteer Executive Award (Black Key)

Have earned the Girl Scout Volunteer Achievement Award

Served in a leadership role at the council or national level

Have made significant contributions in a clearly defined leadership capacity
 
Girl Scout Volunteer Diversity Award (Gold Key)

Have earned the Girl Scout Volunteer Achievement Award

Have increased membership in underrepresented populations

Have increase awareness and understanding through
o Enrichment Events
o Training
 
Nomination Process: Complete Progressive Volunteer Awards form and return it to the Adult Development Director on or before February 15th.
 
 
Governors Volunteer Excellence Award Certificate
 
Recipients: Registered Girl Scout adults who have met the requirements
 
Purpose: To recognize volunteers based on the number of hours an individual gives to
Girl Scouts Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas in a twelve month period
 
Levels of Recognition: For 100 to 250 hours of service in a twelve month period

For 251 to 500 hours of service in a twelve month period

For 501 to 750 hours of service in a twelve month period

For 751 and above hours of service in a twelve month period
 
Nomination Process: Complete the Governors Volunteer Excellence Award form and return it to the Adult Development Director on or before February 15th.

Honor Pin
 
Recipients: Registered Girl Scout adults who have been nominated and meet the requirements
 
Purpose: To recognize volunteers who actively give outstanding service in two or more geographic areas
 
Nomination Process: An individual familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form that documents the service and its scope and impact to the councils Adult Development Director with three letters of endorsement from individuals familiar with the service performed no later than February 15th.
 
 
Thanks Badge
 
Recipients: Registered Girl Scout adults who have been nominated and meet the requirements
 
Purpose: To recognize volunteers who actively give service impacting the council or the entire Girl Scout movement in one or more of the following areas:

Increasing membership growth and retention

Increases the amount of adult generated funding in the total council income

Increases innovative program opportunities council wide

Insuring that inclusive behavior is recognized and practiced at all levels
 
Nomination Process: An individual familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form that documents the service and its scope and impact to the councils Adult Development Director with four letters of endorsement from individuals familiar with the service performed no later than February 15th.
 
 
Thanks Badge II
 
Recipients: Prior Thanks Badge recipients
 
Purpose: To recognize volunteers who have received the Thank Badge and who continue to contribute in extraordinary ways that benefit the total council or the entire Girl Scout movement
 
 
Nomination Process: An individual familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form that documents the service and its scope and impact to the councils Adult Development Director with four letters of endorsement from individuals familiar with the service performed no later than February 15th.
 
 
Rookie of the Year (One per region)
 
Recipients: Registered first year volunteer who has been nominated by peers and selected by the recognition committee
 
Purpose: To recognize a volunteer who has successfully completed her first year as a troop/group leader or assistant leader
 
Nomination Process: An individual familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form that documents the service and its scope and impact to the councils Adult Development Director with two letters of endorsement from individuals familiar with the service performed no later than February 15th.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Diamond Rookie of the Year
 
Recipient: Chosen by the recognition committee from the current regional Rookie of the Year recipients
 
Purpose: To recognize a first time troop/group leader who has gone above and beyond the expectations of their position
 
Nomination Process: The recipient of this award will be chosen from the current years Regional Rookie of the Year recipients
 
 


Volunteer of the Year (One per region)
 
Recipients: Registered Girl Scout volunteer who has been nominated by peers and selected by the nomination committee
 
Purpose: To recognize a volunteer who has gone above and beyond the expectations of their position
 
Nomination Process: An individual familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form that documents the service and its scope and impact to the councils Adult Development Director with two letters of endorsement from individuals familiar with the service performed no later than February 15th.
 
Diamond Volunteer of the Year
 
Recipient: Chosen by the recognition committee from the current regional Volunteer of the Year recipients
 
Purpose: To recognize a volunteer who has gone above and beyond the expectations of their position
 
Nomination Process: The recipient of this award will be chosen from the current years Regional Volunteer of the Year recipients
 
Myra Vinson Award
In loving memory of Myra Vinson, former Executive Director of Arkansas Post Girl Scout Council
 
Recipient: A registered Girl Scout volunteer who has been nominated by peers and approved by the recognition committee
 
Purpose: To recognize volunteers who live the Girl Scout Law and continually give back to their community in a variety of ways
 
 
Nomination Process: An individual familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form to the Adult Development Director with two letters of endorsement from individuals familiar with the service performed no later than February 15th.
 
Sally Sharpe Training Award
In loving memory of Sally Sharpe, Crowleys Ridge Council Trainer 1988-1995
 
Recipient: A registered Girl Scout volunteer trainer who has been nominated by peers and approved by the recognition committee
 
Purpose: To recognize a volunteer trainer who demonstrates outstanding training skills in creating successful learning experiences for both new and returning leaders/advisors
 
Nomination Process: A trainer familiar with the service performed submits a council nomination form to the Adult Development Director with two letters of endorsement from peer trainers, who understand the amount of time and preparation involved in presenting successful trainings. Due on or before February 15th.
 
 
Community Spirit Award
 
Recipient: A community member or business that helps promote Girl Scouting in a positive way or provides goods or services on a service unit or council level
 
Purpose: To recognize a community member or business that helps promote Girl Scouting in a positive way or provides goods or services on a service unit or council level
 
Nomination Process: A person familiar with the service performed or donation made submits a council nomination form to the Adult Development Director on or before February 15th.
