Cardboard Boat Regatta - Weekend Option
Earn your Innovator Rocker
Come out to Camp Cahinnio to plan and build a sea-worthy boat made entirely of cardboard and duct tape. In teams of 3 or 4 Girl Scouts, you’ll be constructing and racing your boat to the soggy finish. All participants should come prepared to build a boat and get wet. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd speed winners in each age group as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for overall design.
During and after the races, enjoy other STEM, aquatic and other traditional camp and outdoor activities.
Overnight accommodations are available to troops and families. Cahinnio cabins and platform tents are available to rent. Each cabin and platform tent sleeps 4. Current background checks and adult memberships will be required for any adult choosing to stay overnight. Troops and families are also welcome to bring their own tents and camp on site. Please eat before arriving Friday night.
Race Information: Boat building begins at 10 am on Saturday! Review the flyer for race rules.
Special Instructions: Wear a bathing suit and sunscreen and be ready to get wet! Teams will be provided with 1 roll of duct tape and a few cardboard boxes. Feel free to bring more. Extra duct tape and cardboard is usually in high demand!
