Other Leadership Awards and Scholarships

In addition to the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Highest Awards, Girl Scouts opens the door to other great opportunities, including mentoring awards, religious recognitions, and higher education scholarships.

Leaders come in all shapes and sizes! Girl Scouts have many opportunities to hone their leadership skills while working with younger Girl Scouts and members of their community to make a big impact.

Program Aide (PA) toggle arrow

Cadettes

Become a Diamonds Program Aide! You'll learn how to work with younger Girl Scouts and explore your own talent as a leader. Upon completion of the training, girls will be awarded a certificate and t-shirt. You can then practice your Program Aide skills to earn your Program Aide pin!

Requirements for earning PA Pin:
1) Girl Scouts must be a Cadette (6th, 7th or 8th grade).
2) Enroll in council-approved PA training (provided annually in each region). If you are interested in a group of Cadettes (min. of 5) attending Program Aide Training outside of the annual trainings, please email program@girlscoutsdiamonds.org.
3) Earn one Leadership In Action award.
4) Volunteer as a Program Aide for 6+ activity sessions (or 20 hours) with younger Girl Scouts.

Diamonds Council provides PA pins for girls who have completed the above steps. A new online form is in development. In the meantime email program@girlscoutsdiamonds.org on how to submit information for pin.

Counselor in Training (CIT) and Counselor in Training II (CITII)

This award is earned by experienced campers by combining their love for the outdoors with their leadership skills and goals during summer camp. Contact us to learn more about our camp leadership programs.

Volunteer in Training (VIT) toggle arrow

Seniors | Ambassadors

The VIT award is for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors who would like to mentor a Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Cadette group outside of the camp experience. A VIT project (working with a troop) needs to span a 3- to 6-month period.

Requirements for VIT pin:
1) Girl Scouts must be Seniors or Ambassadors (9th-12th grade)
2) Find an adult volunteer to act as a mentor
3) Complete the council-designed VIT leadership course booklet (available above)
4) Create and implement a thoughtful Journey project lasting four or more sessions
5) Attend at least one council-designed leadership course.

Service to Girl Scouting Bar toggle arrow

The Service to Girl Scouting Bar is earned by volunteering at least 20 hours to the Girl Scout organization. A Girl Scout can volunteer at a special event for younger girls, be an office assistant for their council, work with their service unit or help with special projects. Community Service Bar hours need to be separate from those used toward other awards.

The Girl Scout Community Service Bar is earned by making a difference in the community and practicing the values of the Girl Scout Law. It is also a way for girls to get involved with a cause they care about.

The Community Service Bar is earned by volunteering at least 20 hours to one organization.

To earn the Torch Award, a Girl Scout must complete one Leadership Journey, and serve a full term in a leadership position at her school, place of worship, library, community center, or other organization that is important to her.

Safety Awards are earned by following a five-step process for being safe, tailored for each grade level.

Journey Summit Award toggle arrow

The Journey Summit Award Pin is earned by girls who have completed three National Leadership Journeys at their grade level. The colored border around each pin corresponds to their grade level. This award can be earned by girls in all program levels: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador. This is the highest award that a Girl Scout Daisy and a Girl Scout Brownie can earn.

This award is given to a girl who has shown extraordinary heroism saving life or attempting to save life with risk to the candidate’s own life. Email or call for more information.

Girls and Faith toggle arrow

My Promise, My Faith Pin

Everything in Girl Scouting is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and the law includes many of the principles and values common to most faiths. While a secular organization, Girl Scouts has encouraged girls to take spiritual journeys via their faiths’ religious recognition

Girls of all grade levels can now earn the My Promise, My Faith pin developed by Girl Scouts of the USA. This pin, which girls can earn once a year, complements existing religious recognitions and allows all girls to further strengthen the connection between their faith and Girl Scouts. A girl may earn the My Promise, My Faith pin by carefully examining the Girl Scout Law and directly tying it to tenets of her faith. Requirements for this pin are included in The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting for all levels.

Scholarship Opportunities

Diamonds Graduating Senior Scholarship Program

Girl Scouts – Diamonds has established the Diamonds Graduating Senior Scholarship Program, which is committed to advancing leadership opportunities for girl members after high school. These scholarships are available for graduating senior Girl Scouts who epitomize the Girl Scout Mission.

The number of scholarships available is based on current funding for the scholarship program. Recipients will be honored during the Gold, Silver and Graduating Seniors Ceremony.
