Following this in person training, Volunteers will be able to teach
their troop members, outdoor skills and leadership techniques. These
skills include basic knife safety, fundamentals of fire building, tent
usage and outdoor safety. Adults will learn the fundamentals of
environmental awareness, how to prepare for the weather, identifying
proper clothing and gear for outdoor camping, as well as how to pack
for an outdoor overnight adventure. Meal planning, food storage and
basic techniques for outdoor cooking will be taught, including foil
dinners, one-pot meals, campfire cooking and propane stoves. This
class is required before any troop travel, camping trips or activities
involving fire building can take place.
This event takes
place at Camp Beaverfork in Conway, Arkansas.
